As you prepare for this important step, we’d love to tell you more about what makes our school special and how we can help your child thrive.

Why Choose St Andrew’s?

A Warm and Nurturing Environment

At St Andrew’s, we believe that every child deserves a safe, supportive space where they can develop their love for learning. Our experienced and dedicated teachers are committed to nurturing each child’s unique potential, ensuring they grow in confidence and curiosity every day.

Forest School Program

We’re proud to offer a rich Forest School program that allows children to learn and explore in a natural, outdoor setting. Through this hands-on approach, they develop independence, problem-solving skills, and a deep appreciation for the environment.

Active PTFA (Parent, Teacher, and Friends Association)

Our PTFA is a vibrant part of school life, organising fun events and activities that bring families together and enrich the school experience. It’s a fantastic way to get involved, meet new people, and support the school.

Preparing Your Child for School

Starting school is a major milestone, and it’s normal for children and parents to feel both excited and a little nervous. To help your child feel ready and confident, here are a few tips to focus on over the next few months:

School Readiness Tips

Independent Toileting

Help your child feel confident in using the toilet by themselves and washing their hands afterwards. This is an essential skill for their independence in school.

Eating with Cutlery

Practise using cutlery at home so your child can manage mealtimes independently. This will help them feel confident and comfortable during lunchtime.

Dressing Themselves

Encourage your child to put on their coat and shoes, and practise doing up zips and buttons. Dressing independently boosts their self-esteem and sense of achievement.

Recognising Their Own Name

Being able to recognise their name, especially on clothing or personal items, helps children feel more organised and responsible for their belongings.

Excitement for School

Most importantly, foster a sense of excitement! Encourage your child to look forward to school by talking about all the fun activities they will do and the new friends they’ll meet. Your positivity will help them feel excited and reassured.
