We maintain a high standard of first aid and health and safety training amongst our staff. All classes and areas have regularly checked first aid boxes and a more substantive supply of first aid is kept with the school’s nominated first aider in the school office. We will alert parents to head bumps by email or if are concerned your child needs monitoring at home or elsewhere will contact you immediately.
If your child needs to take prescribed medicine during the school day, it can be left at the school office where it will be stored in appropriate conditions and administered at the required time. We are also happy to hold over-the-counter medication, such as hayfever relief or Calpol-type pain relief, for teething pain, or following an injury, in our locked medications drawer. For both circumstances you will need to complete the form: Parental Agreement for School to Administer Medicine
All administration of medication is recorded and if it is a non-prescribed medication you will receive a text, stating the dose and time your child received this.
If your child has asthma, please ask their GP to prescribe an additional inhaler that can be kept specifically in school. Children who can self-administer may keep their inhalers in class, or if they are younger or wish to use their inhaler discreetly, may keep their inhalers and spacers in the office. They will be shown where these are and kept in named individual bags with their photo and parental contact information. Access to inhalers kept in the school office is always open. We also have our own inhalers for emergency use if an inhaler is left at home or unusable, however, we require you to consent to use of this via the following form: Record of Consent for Use of Salbutamol Inhaler
