At St Andrew’s, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to ensuring that every adult working in our school has completed all required checks and clearances, confirming their suitability to work with children.
We also have 2 specially trained staff who take lead responsibility for safeguarding: our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL). They receive regular training and updates throughout the year to ensure that our safeguarding practice remains strong and up to date.

Recruitment
St Andrew’s is dedicated to keeping children safe. Every position within the school requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before an appointment is made and before any work with children can begin. Staff who are responsible for recruiting, are also trained in Safer Recruitment.
School Security
Our school building has been designed with safety and security in mind. All adults enter via the main entrance, which is controlled through a secure access system. To protect our pupils, all other external doors are locked by 8:55am.
All volunteers, work-experience students, visiting adults, and governors must complete the appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks before having any contact with children.
