Home Learning 22nd November 2019

For home learning this week, I would like you to draw a Christmassy picture. The picture needs to be A5 size (half a piece of A4 paper) and needs to be drawn using pencils or pens (no 3D added bits please). The pictures will be submitted to the school magazine committee and there is a chance your design could be picked to be made into a Christmas card!

Please also continue reading with your child and recapping the sounds we have learnt this week ‘qu’ ‘z’ ‘ng’ and ‘nk’.

This week I would like you to create your own firework picture. You can use any materials that you would like, but make them as bright and colourful as you can!

No home learning for the half term hols!

Reception & Year 1 Home Learning 18th October 2019

This week I would like you to make something delicious to eat at home. You could make a cake, biscuits, sandwiches… the world’s your oyster! I’d really like you to focus on following the instructions and think carefully about the order in which you put things into the bowl. I’d really appreciate it if you could take some photos to show me what you made and you could even have a go writing some of the instructions too!

For home learning this week I would like you to do the following:

  1. This week your child will  come home with a yellow set 1 sounds book. Please recap the sounds m,a,s,d,n,i,t,p,g,o,c and k. The picture and rhyme we use in school is on each page. Please also have a go writing each sound in your home learning book.
  2. Have a go counting to 10. Can you count to 20? Or ever 100? Can you have a go writing any numbers?
  3. Read your lilac reading book with an adult at home.

Reception and Year 1 Home Learning 27th September 2019

For home learning this week, I would really appreciate it if you could please help your child to learn the lyrics to our song for the Harvest Festival service at St Andrew’s Church on Friday 4th October at 2pm. The song we will be performing is called ‘Big Red Combine Harvester’. The children changed the lyrics from the original song and have also added their own actions. A video is on our class page- a sneaky peak for you all!

Reading books for our new children

Tomorrow your child will come home with their first ever reading book. They will have a book without words before we start our phonics learning next week. Please look at the pictures with your child and discuss the story with them. They will also come home with their yellow reading record. You need to write the date, title of the book and any comment you would like to make about their reading. It is really important that you read with your child as often as you can. When you have finished reading each book, swap it for another book from the lilac box. When your child is ready to move on to books with words I will send them home with an appropriate book. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Welcome back! I hope you have all had a fantastic summer and a great start to the new academic year. For home learning this week please can you:
